The Moor Monkton Mercury
The Moor Monkton Mercury came into being as a way of keeping the residents of the village informed of the workings of the Parish Council. It is a 3 monthly newsletter with subject matter ranging from Parish Council notes, village history and the weather. A full list of sections comprises:
Parish Council News - usually a report on the latest meeting
Church News - service times and fundraising news
Village Events - dates of future events and reports on past ones
Village Clubs - news and reports of meetings
Village History - a series looking at different aspects of village history
Moor Monkton Lives - a series describing people's experiences in Moor Monkton
Weather Watch - a review of what the weather has thrown at us in the last 3 months
The current issue is Number 24 published in September 2012. It is available in pdf format for viewing on screen.

The Mercury was originally produced by Stuart Ede and then, from issue number 10, Robin Gordon took over. The newsletter is printed by Andy Atkins-Krüger in his offices at WebCertain. The distribution is done by a team who deliver door to door in their respective area of the village. All the articles, production and distribution are done on a voluntary basis so costs are zero, making this a true community based project.
